Descriptions of Geohaliplectus andrassyi gen. n., sp. n. Haliplectus bruneiensis sp. n. (Nematoda: Haliplectidae).

Geohaliplectus andrassyi gen. n., sp. n. collected from bush soil near Ibadan, Nigeria and Haliplectus bruneiensis sp. n. from a mangrove in Brunei are described and illustrated. The new genus Geohaliplectus comes close to Haliplectus in having strongly annulated cuticle lacking ornamentation, markings, spines and pores, circular amphidial, no labial or cephalic setae, a long tubular stoma lacking teeth and denticles, but differs from it in having an angular offset cephalic region, presence of only the anterior female sexual branch and absence of spinneret at tail tip. Geohaliplectus andrassyi has 0.42-0.52 (0.48) mm long body, circular amphidial fovea at 2-5 annules behind cephalic region, 34-38 micro m long stoma, vulva at 53.5-59.5 (57) percent of body, single reflexed ovary, a postuterine sac and a conoid tail 5-6 anal body widths long and with a minutely rounded tip lacking spinneret. Haliplectus bruneiensis has a small body (0.46 mm), stoma 37 micro m long, circular amphidial fovea at 1.5 head widths from anterior end, median oeophageal bulb located just anterior to middle of oesophagus, spheroidal terminal oesophageal bulb, a large cylindroid cardia 12 micro m or two-thirds of terminal bulb long and 5.5 micro m wide, vulva located at 45.6% of body length, paired reflexed ovaries, spermathecae with small rounded sperm, and ventrally curved, subcylindrical tail measuring 50 micro m long and bearing three caudal glands and a short cylindroid terminal spinneret.
