Descriptions of Stenonchulus longisetosus sp. n. from Canada and S. eirensis sp. n. from Ireland (Tripylida: Stenonchulidae fam. n.).

Stenonchulus longisetosus sp. n. from estuarian soil in Canada, has female with 1.44 mm long body, 21 micro m long outer labial setae, 9 micro m long cephalic setae, 18 micro m long buccal cavity having three large claw-like teeth occupying about half of head width, transversely oval amphidial aperture at about two head widths from anterior end and tail convex-conoid in its proximal seventh and thereafter filiform, 275 micro m long. Stenonchulus eirensis sp. n. is described from Ireland. It differs from S. troglodytes in having outer labial setae 17-18 micro m long, longer (6.5-7 micro m) cephalic setae and the anterior subcylindroid portion of tail more than two anal body widths long. Stenonchulidae fam. n. is proposed to receive Stenonchulus which is unique in the order Tripylida in having three large protrusible teeth.
