Role of higher-multipolarity deformations of a nucleus in its (static) fission-barrier height B-f(st) is studied. The study is done within a macroscopic-microscopic approach. A heavy deformed nucleus Cf-250 is taken for the analysis. It is found that, in the case of axially symmetric shapes, the inclusion of higher-multipolarity deformations increases B-f(st).
