摘要

The main emphasis of this review is on the effect of process parameters on weld bead geometry and consequently on its properties. This brief review illustrates that how the various process parameters used like voltage (V), wire feed rate (W), welding speed (s) and bead angle are going to affect the mechanical properties of the weld. Stronger welds produced by better joint preparation & better shielding of inert gases around the weld is also in equal priority. Micro-structural changes also affect directly the mechanical properties. Hence, a detailed study is essential to arrive at a method of predicting the conditions that will give a good weld and this paper reviews various aspects of GMA welding, the effect of process parameters and different methodologies adopted for selecting these parameters to obtain better quality welds.
