Mitsubishi, Shell Ink Hydrogen MOU

Japan's Mitsubishi has signed a memorandum of understanding with Royal Dutch Shell for production of blue hydrogen close to the latter's proposed Polaris carbon capture and storage (CCS) facility near Edmonton in Canada. Production would start towards the second half of this decade. Using natural gas as feedstock, the project would produce about 165,000 tons/yr of hydrogen in the first phase with the potential to increase production in later phases.
