摘要

The aim of present paper is the analysis of behaviour of a low speed diesel engine type MAN B&W 5L90MC under continuous dysfunctions and faults with the use of engine room simulator. The main engine and the auxiliary networks were simulated via a ship that has the characteristics of Very Large Crude Oil Carrier (VLCC). The examined main engine is a two stroke engine, 5 cylinders in line with turbo-charging and scavenging air cooling. Continues service rating of main engine is 17.4 MW. The analysis of total behaviour of main engine under the arrangement of continuous programmed malfunctions helps in the prevention of damages but mainly in the best education of engineers of Greek Commercial Navy, having as direct result the reduction of cost of operation of ship, the increase of safety of navigation and the dissuasion of dangers for the sea environment. Moreover, it constitutes important aid for the shipping companies and shipping industry to create checklists with parts of engine which suffer more from the presented damage - abnormalities. At this paper will be analyzed four trip situations of main engine. More specific will be demonstrated the trips: 'Shutdown', 'Slowdown', 'Fail' and 'Serious damage' main engine.
