Iraq Touts Potential Project With Chevron

Iraq's cabinet has authorized the Iraq National Oil Co.(INOC)to pursue negotiations with Chevron for a major oil, gas and water injection project similar to the one agreed in September with TotalEnergies. The oil ministry said the project in the Nasiriyah region included"completion of a group of giant projects in the oil and gas and water injection sectors, with a targeted initial capacity of 600,000 b/d barrels per day within seven years of starting work."That would mean more than tripling the volume of oil currently produced from fields in Nasiriyah. Solar power projects might follow, the ministry added, echoing the multipart Total deal that is considered a potential model for future megaprojects in Iraq.
