Embolisation of a non-culprit coronary artery complicating thrombus aspiration in acute myocardial infarction: the 'drag and drop' effect of the thrombus aspiration catheter.

A fifty seven year-old male presented with acute central chest pain waking him up from sleep. He reported exertional chest pain in the weeks preceding and had a background of hypertension, hypercholes-terolemia and was an ex-smoker. His examination on arrival was unremarkable and remained haemodynamically stable. His ECG on arrival showed inferior-lateral ST elevation with reciprocal ST depression in anterior leads and Q waves in leads III, aVF. He was treated for aspirin, clopidogrel, low molecular weight heparin and nitrates. He proceeded to have an urgent coronary angiogram with a view to primary angioplasty for acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction.
