摘要

The obesity is a phenomenon going beyond the borders of health and the emergent risks related to the globalization, imposing a double load over the health systems in the world, complicating still more the inequities in health. This article is part of a trans-cultural, and comparative study, in which were reviewed the socio-cultural and familiar contexts related to habits, life styles, traditions and eating patterns related to obesity between Mexican and Mexican-Americans under to the phenomenological perspective. Nutritional patterns, preference by certain activities formed in the familiar context and multiple social and cultural factors, place the person in risk of having obesity. The impact that the culture has on the obesity trends in the world, must give it to know in order to implement cultural and competent interventions and training from a sensible way to the instructors and suppliers of the care health.
