What's in a name? Another unexplained acronym!

I was greatly disappointed to find out that COMET, the acronym of a study that appeared in a recent publication in a well known journal [1], was not what I thought to represent. COMET is a relatively common acronym in cardiology, e.g. Carvedilol Or Metoprolol European Trial and Comparative study with rosuvastatin in subjects with METabolic syndrome [2]. The authors never defined the acronym COMET in their article [1].Clinical trials constitute the backbone of modern medical therapeutics and the basic science of population health.
