Super-selective intracoronary injection of Rho-kinase inhibitor relieves refractory coronary vasospasms: A case report

Coronary spastic angina (CSA) may become refractory when patients discontinue medication, resume smoking, are overworked, are under mental stress, or are hyperventilation [1]. Calcium channel blockers (CCBs) are effective standard therapeutic agents for CSA. In some cases, however, a combination of medications such as CCBs, nitrogen, and nicorandil fails to relieve CSA. We report a case of refractory CSA, which was eventually relieved by super-selective intracoronary injection of a Rho-kinase inhibitor, fasudil.
