Flow cytometric analysis of de novo acute myeloid leukemia in childhood: report from the Japanese Pediatric Leukemia/Lymphoma Study Group.

Immunophenotypic analysis has become a powerful tool for the correct identification of leukemic cell lineage. Our study evaluates the diagnostic utility of flow cytometric immunophenotyping of pediatric AML. We retrospectively collected data of immunophenotype from 375 cases of de novo AML studied from 1997 to 2007 at central laboratory institutions of the Japanese Pediatric Leukemia/Lymphoma Study Group (JPLSG): Department of Pediatrics and Developmental Science, Mie University Graduate School of Medicine; Department of Pediatrics, Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine; Center for Clinical Research, National Center for Child Health and Development; and Department of Pediatrics, Aichi Medical University.
