Prolonged ovarian hyperstimulation for poor responders in in-vitro fertilization treatment cycles.

The management of poor responders to controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) in an in-vitro fertilization setting presents clinicians with several dilemmas. Serafini et al. defined poor responders as those who produced less than 3 follicles despite "adequate" ovarian stimulation. Although there is no universally accepted definition, these patients represent about 10% of the population undergoing assisted reproduction treatment .Poor responders have been reported to experience reduced pregnancy rates when compared with normal responders . Despite various stimulationprotocols, the ideal number of days of COH still remains unknown.
