The World Health Organization recommends that all patients with suspected malaria are tested before treatment.1 In the East and Southern Sub-region in Africa where most of our work is, RDTs roll-out started as early as 2001. The development of high-quality RDTs for malaria that can be used by primary healthcare workers presents the opportunity to expand patient access to testing.
