The 3-Dimensional Theory of High Speed Linear Induction Motors

摘要

In this paper the future application to supersonic, hypersonic, high-hypersonic and re-entry speed Linear Induction Motors (LIMs) has been introduced. The 3-dimensional field analyses have been developed by deriving the system of partial differential equations (PDEs) in the different regions of the model based on using the full spectrum of the Fourier integral (FI) representation of the Magneto Motive Force (MMF), and with using the appropriate boundary conditions the magnetic vector potential, A, is derived to get the magnetic induction, B, and the electric field strength, E, in each region of the models. The field analyses are used to derive the closed form expressions of the thrust force, the secondary input power and the secondary input efficiency for 3 given different models. A comparison between the theory presented and experimental results for the thrust force is given, which shows the high accuracy between the theoretical analyses and experimental results which confirms the theory presented. The effect of varying both the conductivity and frequency on the performance of LIMs is given to get the promising range of velocities of LIMs and its applications for space launchers.
