Geopolitical changes which occurred in the world led to a change in the security architecture. "Political vacuum" of the first post-Soviet decade provided for the newly formed states freedom of choice of Eurasian security system in the international arena. The events in the Central Asian part of Eurasia after the collapse of the Soviet Union gave authors the opportunity to assess the current structure of collective security from the perspective of protecting the region from current challenges and threats.
