摘要

This paper focuses on the optimal placement and sizing of the shunt capacitor in unbalanced radial distribution network to realize the power loss reduction. To recognize the potential benefits of capacitive compensation, the shunt capacitors are to be placed at optimal candidate nodes with proper sizes. The potential nodes are identified by the computation of voltage stability index and the optimal sizing of shunt capacitors are obtained using the Artificial Bee Colony algorithm. To get the power flow solution backward/forward sweep based load flow technique is used. To reveal the robustness of the proposed ABC approach, it has been implemented and tested on unbalanced IEEE 34 bus radial distribution test system.
