摘要

Purslane (Portulaca oleracea L.), the 8th most common plant distributed throughout the world, is heat and drought tolerant. In this study, the effect of salinity on total amounts of fatty acids (FA) and omega3/ omega6 ratio in purslane leaves was evaluated. Plants exposed to 4 levels of chloride salinity in the root zone (60, 90, 120 and 240mM NaCl) for 40 days showed no signs of toxicity or death. The main FA detected were C16:0 > C18:3 > C18:2. The omega6/ omega3 ratio was not changed with salt stress. Hierarchic cluster analysis brought together 60 and 90mM NaCl in control plants, based on their FA content. Results confirmed that purslane is a plant rich in FA whose consumption may contribute to dietary intake of omega3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, with obvious benefits to human health.
