TheAthinsp;1Sgr;+ustate of the potassium dimer

Using resolved fluorescence from a1Sgr;+gRydberg state to theAthinsp;1Sgr;+ustate of K2, we have observed the lowest vibrational levels (vrsquo;le;12) of theAthinsp;1Sgr;+ustate. Levelsvrsquo;=21 to 62 (well beyond the previously knownvrsquo;=12 to 18 region) were observed using the polarization opticalndash;optical double resonance technique. Molecular constants and a Rydbergndash;Kleinndash;Rees (RKR) potential energy curve based on these constants are given. Franckndash;Condon factors for the K2,Athinsp;1sum;+undash;Xthinsp;1sum;+gsystem based on this newAthinsp;1Sgr;+upotential are also given.
