The use of dipolar hyperfine couplings in studies of radiation effects

ENDOR measurements atVband (70 GHz) provided data on protons weakly coupled to the unpaired electron of the alkoxy radical in xhyphen;irradiated ribitol. The couplings are chiefly dipolar in character. A total of eight hyperfine coupling tensors for weakly coupled protons were determined. The prospects for utilizing weak proton hyperfine couplings as an aid in identifying free radical radiation products is discussed.
