Recently, cognitive radio technology for TV white-space utilization has been widely researched and developed. NICT has also contributed to standardizations and developed a variety of technologies including databases and access points. To achieve the practical use, small size terminal is also required, however, it must support a wide frequency range and suppress its spurious to avoid interference. Some RF front-end modules are developed to solve such problems, however, sizes are not small enough due to a limitation of conventional technologies. Therefore, for further miniaturization, novel technology such as a tunable filter using MEMS technology is required.
