The dielectric absorption of benzocyclobutene, 2hyphen;bromonaphthalene,ohyphen;dichlorobenzene,mhyphen;dichlorobenzene, indane, 1hyphen;methylnaphthalene, 2hyphen;methylnaphthalene, tetralin, ohyphen;xylene, andmhyphen;xylene in cyclohexane solution has been examined. All the dielectric data were analyzed in terms of a Colehyphen;Cole distribution, and where appropriate, the data were further analyzed into contributions from two relaxation times. Tetralin at 15deg; and 25deg;C showed a nonzero distribution coefficientlpar;agr;rpar;; at 50deg;C itsagr;was zero and this was also the case for benzocyclobutene, indane, ohyphen;dichlorobenzene, andmhyphen;dichlorobenzene at 25deg;C. A short relaxation time process, together with that of molecular reorientation, contributes to the dielectric absorption of the methylhyphen;substituted compounds and may also be present in the benzocyclobutene, indane, and tetralin solutions. The short relaxation time for the aromatic hydrocarbons may be accounted for by an intermolecular relaxation process.
