Comparative herd health status of zebu and zebu X taurus crossbred groups in humid tropic.

The health state of 3708 animals belonging to the Hariana breed and their 2- and 3-breed crosses with Holstein, Jersey and Brown Swiss were studied. The crossbred animals were grouped according to the level of exotic inheritance (_50, 51-75 and >75%). Health state was evaluated in terms of incidence of different diseases per 100 animals per year, number of days affected per incidence and cost of medicine per incidence. The incidence of diseases was highest in animals having _50% exotic inheritance.The incidence was higher in the hot/humid season compared with other seasons.
