Studies on growth and some physiological values in grey partridges.

The effect of age on growth, respiration rate and body temperature in 7 grey partridges (Francolinus pondicerianus) was studied. Birds were kept in wire cages from 5 to 19 weeks of age. Body weight increased with age up to 15 weeks (248.5+-10.12 g) and was then fairly constant up to 19 weeks. The respiration rate (breaths per minute) increased from 57.25+-1.20 at 5 weeks to 84.20+-2.00 at 17 weeks; it then declined to 68.90+-2.90 at 19 weeks. Body temperature increased from 105.87+-0.50degF at 5 weeks to108.73+-0.35deg at 18 weeks.
