This fall, the EPA and the Dept. of Transportation will release a proposal for 2017-2025 modeled light vehicles. As of now, the government is contemplating increasing the required fuel efficiency from 35.5 mpg in 2016 to 45-60 mpg in 2025. Recently, 15 governors wrote a letter to the federal regulators urging them to avoid placing further burden families and businesses with the next set of GHG regulations and fuel efficiency standards for passenger cars.
