摘要

The intensity distribution of the five branches in thea1Pgr;glarr;X1Sgr;gplus;system of N2has been analyzed in detail. The results are in agreement with theory (Chiu) and with line strengths calculated by Chiu give a ratioQsol;Dequals;0.33 between the relative transition probabilities of electric quadrupole (Q) to magnetic dipole (D). These results suggest a need for a theoretical study of these matrix elements in electrichyphen;quadrupole and magnetichyphen;dipole transitions.
