摘要

The present investigation was carried out by taking three reproductive and three target traits pertaining to 441 Murrah buffaloes maintained at Livestock Farm, NDRI for developing two canonical regression (CR) and three simple/multiple (SR/MR) models. The important reproductive traits corresponding to breeding efficiency (BE) and breeding value/expected producing ability (BV/EPA) were identified through canonical correlation analysis (CCA) and these were used for predicting the BE alongwith BV of milk production and BE alongwith EPA through CR models I and II. The same reproductive traits were also used to predict the BE,BV and EPA separately through SR/MR models III, IV and V. The CR models (I and II) were found more efficient in terms of R~2(%) and MS_e. It was inferred from the study that the use of CR models might have other advantages over SR/MR models besides better prediction of target traits.
