A complete assignment of the vibronic transitions corresponding to the 2643 Aring;1A1rarr;1B1absorption of the fluorobenzene crystal is given. The details of the spectrum are explained within a resonance model between twohyphen;particle states and phononhyphen;sideband states of vibronic levels. Temperature studies of the pure electronic transition show an unusual change of integrated intensity, attributed to localized excitation effects.
