摘要

Lead pollution through automobile exhaust stands as one of the emerging problem in India. Chronie lead exposure to the grazing cattle and goat causes subtle effect. In the present study the blood lead concentration along with some metabolic products like blood urea and blood urea nitrogen, total bilirubin concentration, unconjugated bilirubin concentration (Bilirubin-D) and creatinine were estimated from the cattle grazed around the National Highway - 34 (NH-34) at 10 sampling sites of equal distances in a span of 100 kilometer in pre-monsoon and post-monsoon season from experimental zone (within 500 meters from the highway) and control zone (beyond 1 kilometer from the highway). Recorded result of Wood lead concentration in cattle grazing at experimental zone was significantly higher than control zone. The level of all the metabolic products were also higher at experimental zone than control zone. The results were analyzed and discussed.
