HAEMATOLOGICAL AND SERUM BIOCHEMICAL ALTERATIONS IN GOUT OF BROILER BIRDS

Gout is common metabolic disorder in poultry and is responsible for a great deal of morbidity and mortality in both broilers and layers leading to a great economic loss to poultry farmers. The condition is characterized by high level of uric acid in the blood causing deposition of urates on the surface of various internal organs and joints. An appreciable incidence of gout has been reported by many workers from different states in India. But there is paucity of report of hematological and biochemical alterations in gout of broiler birds in West Bengal. Hence, the present study was undertaken to assess the haematobiochemical changes of gout in broiler birds.
