摘要

With a view to know the pattern of antimicrobial suseeptibility (in vitro) of Campylobacter species isolated from various sources, a total of 72 Campylobacter strains (dairy cow genitalia-15 ; poultry caecal content-18 ; sheep and goat-17 ; mutton andchevon-2 ; pig faeces-4; bitch genitalia-2 ; abattoir wall and floor-10 and human stool-4) were examined. Seventy two strains, comprised of 8 C. fetusss. fetus, 58 C. fetus ss jejuni and 6 C. coti species. The overall observation revealed that all the strains were susceptible to nalidixic acid, erythromycin, ciprofloxacin and gentamicin except C. fetusss fetus strains which were resistant to nalidixic acid On species wise observation, 87.50% C. fetus ss. felus, 84.48% C. fetus ss. jejui and 66.66% C. coll were found sensitive to nitrofurantoin and 75.00% C, fetus ss. fetus, 60.34% C. fetus ss.jejuni & 83.33% C. coli were sensititive to chloramphenicol. Streptomycin was almost equally effective against both C. fttus ss. fetus (62 50%) and ss. jejuni (62.06%).
