The velocity autocorrelation function and the diffusion coefficient for a dilute hard sphere gas

摘要

The velocity autocorrelation function and the diffusion coefficient for a dilute hard sphere gas are calculated without solving the Boltzmann equation directly. The basic assumption used is the hypothesis of molecular chaos. The diffusion coefficient obtained is compared with other solutions of this problem.
