Spontaneous ketosis in cattle and its therapy

Sub-clinical and clinical ketosis was recorded 18.18 percent and 5.24 percent respectively in dairy cows. The mean values of blood glucose and cholesterol decresed significantly (P < 0.01), whereas the mean values of blood ketone bodies, Plasma NEFA,serum AST activity increased significantly (p < 0.01) in ketotic cows than in controls. A combination of therapy such as injection Dextrose 50 percent, Prednisolone and Nutri-Sac bolus proved to be most effective in alleviating the syndromes of Kerrysis
