HAEMATO- BIOCHEMICAL STUDIES IN PYOMETRA AFFECTED BITCHES

One of the most common serious medical condition affecting entire bitches is pyometra. The condition causes life threatening complications in uncared cases and even if survive imparts sterility to large numbers of the recovered animals. The records ofsuccess in treating pyometra with different pharmaceuticals though are there but are transitory; ultimately surgery is warranted. The success of the treatment is largely determined by early diagnosis, for which haemato-serological investigation may be a good modality. Approximately 62% of dogs with pyometra are anemic, 41% suffer from liver diseases and 45% shows kidney diseases (Slatter, 1993).
