Optical Absorption Spectrum of NiF2

摘要

The optical absorption spectrum of NiF2is reported for the paramagnetic and antiferromagnetic states. A prominent satellite appears in the3A2rarr;1Etransition below the Neacute;el temperature. This new line is explained in terms of the interaction of the excited Ni2+ion with its six antiparallel Ni2+neighbors.
