A Simplified Method for Extraction of Genomic DNA from Filamentous Fungus belonging to the GenusTrichoderma

This work presents an easy and simple procedure for isolating DNA from filamentous fungi belonging to genus Trichoderma. Most of the methods for the extraction of DNA from filamentous fungi are frequently laborious and time consuming besides using toxic and potentially hazardous phenol and chloroform along with the use of liquid nitrogen as a first step to homogenize fungal tissue. The method described herein avoids all these things and is suited for laboratory conditions commonly encountered in manydeveloping countries having limited resources and funds.
