In an effort to mitigate ethanol supply shortages and price volatility, Brazil's national oil and biofuels agency, ANP, plans to require producers and distributors to fix annual supply contracts starting in July. At first the regulations would involve only anhydrous ethanol used for gasoline blending. The rules, covering domestic supplies as well as imports and exports, later would be expanded to include other grades of ethanol.
