An experimental study on the dynamics of the fluid in the vicinity of the boundary line of three phases was carried out. The boundary of solid-liquid-gas interface is so-called 'contact line.' It has been known over about a century there exists a wafer-thin liquid film ahead the macroscopic contact line. This wafer-thin liquid film has been known as the precursor film. The present authors paid their special attention to the existing length of the precursor film ahead traveling droplet on a solid substrate with non-uniform temperature distribution. The length of the precursor film was detected by applying a conventional laser interferometer, and the position of the macroscopic contact line was grasped by simultaneous observation with a white light source. The present manuscript indicates the precursor film length is strongly affected by the temperature gradient of the solid surface.
