Adiabatic compression of a microwave field by a plasma discharge

摘要

If electromagnetic radiation in a microwave cavity is spatially compressed in an adiabatic manner the frequency of the radiation is increased. Here we report on a theoretical and experimental study of this effect using a plasma discharge to spatially compress the radiation.
