van der Waals potentials and crystal energies of ionic compounds

摘要

A modification of Mayer's calculation of the constants of the van der Waals potential in ionic compounds is presented. Its applicability is demonstrated with respect to the energetically well defined alkalihyphen;metal halides, and an extension to compounds of the rutile structure is discussed.
