摘要

The crystal structure of hydrogen bromide tetrahydrate (HBrmiddot;4H2O) has been determined from threehyphen;dimensional singlehyphen;crystal xhyphen;ray data recorded at minus;180deg;C. Crystals of this compound are monoclinic, space groupP21, with four formula units in a cell with the dimensions:athinsp;equals;thinsp;7.043,bthinsp;equals;thinsp;11.466,cthinsp;equals;thinsp;7.339 Aring;,bgr;thinsp;equals;thinsp;110.85deg;. The structure determination shows that the compound may be formulated as (H7O3)plus;(H9O4)plus;2Brminus;middot;H2O. The hydrogenhyphen;bond lengths within H7O3plus;are 2.465 and 2.498 Aring;, and within H9O4plus;2.496, 2.587, and 2.588 Aring;. Other Osngbnd;Hmiddot;middot;middot;O bonds in the structure are about 2.75 Aring;.
