The qualitative and quantitative verification of the DEM-simula-tions for a horizontal shaftless screw conveyor provides a good correlation with the experimental results. The differences between experimental and simulated results are mainly caused by the necessary idealisations and simplifications of the DEM-model. The qualitative comparison of the transport process of filter gravel in the simulated and real screw conveyor also provides a good correspondence. The DEM verification of productive and mechanical characteristics is not accomplished yet. The experimental tests on the new screw conveyor test rig are currently running.
