Paramagnetic resonance measurements have been carried out at 78deg; and at 4deg;K on Cu2+ions diluted in single crystals of CdWO4, ZnWO4, and MgWO4. Thegfactors and the hyperfine interaction with the copper nucleus have been determined. From this experimental data the groundhyphen;state wavefunction of the Cu2+ion has been constructed. It has also been possible to calculate the relevantl=2 terms of the lowhyphen;symmetry crystalhyphen;field components. Then in the framework of a simpleghyphen;factor theory theghyphen;factor anisotropy has been calculated and compared with the measured anisotropy. The role of the distortion of the covalent pgr; bonds has also been examined. In the case of MgWO4and ZnWO4a distinct temperaturehyphen;dependentghyphen;factor shift and a temperaturehyphen;dependent change of hyperfine interaction constants have been observed.
