If you are a registered nurse you will no doubt by now have received your own new glossy copy of the updated Nursingand Midwifery Council (NMC) Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics for Nursesand Midwives, alongside your NMC News publication for May. Referred to simply asthe Code, this publication is now available following an extensive consultation with key stake-holders and will replace the NMC Code of Professional Conduct: Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics of 2004. This has beenthe most extensive consultation embarked upon and by the NMC since its inception and has involved not only registrants butthe public, patient groups, employers and educators, other regulators and the four United Kingdom health departments.
