A multiple linear regression analysis of results of adsorption tests on lake sediments, so conducted as to reach a cadmium content of these equivalent to a maximum of 5 of their surface area, revealed a linear relationship between cadmium contents of the sediments and initial concentration of water phase. Adsorption kinetics are fast (content of cadmium at 1 min. = 0.7 content at 1000 min.). Solid phase/ liquid phase partition depends on sediments concentration, however, it does not depend on the total surface area. An equation for the adsorption isotherm has been established.
