摘要

Immobilized cells of a strain of a species ofCitrobaaterscavenge cadmium with very high efficiency at a wide range of metal concentrations. Immobilized cell columns tolerate very high loads of cadmium with little loss in activity. The loaded metal is readily recovered from the columns, and the unloaded columns retain 84.5 of their initial activity when challenged with a fresh cadmium flow.
