MUTATION PAIRS IN ABELIAN CATEGORIES

A notion of mutation pairs of subcategories in an abelian category is defined in this article. For an extension closed subcategory L and a rigid subcategory D subset of L, the subfactor category L/D is also a triangulated category whenever (L, L) forms a D-mutation pair. Moreover, if D and L satisfy certain conditions in mod Lambda, the category of finitely generated Lambda-modules over an artin algebra Lambda, the triangulated category L/D has a Serre functor.
