Development of a process for neutralizing acid waste waters by powdered limestone

摘要

Neutralization with powdered limestone has been proved to be an effective alternative to the more common lime process. A waste water containing sulphuric acid from a sugar plant has been used throughout‐the work. The proposed process makes use of two backmix reactors in series. A few simple laboratory runs are required to get kinetic data for the development and optimization of the process.
