Calculations of the spinmdash;spin interaction for methylene have been carried out. It is predicted that a resonance line should be observed at 3.3times;1010cps in the ESR spectrum of the solid system. It is shown that the splitting of the rotational lines in the electronic spectrum of methylene should be observable with an instrument with a resolving power of sim;0.5 cmmdash;1in the ultraviolet region of the spectrum.
