The turkey hen goes through a series of complex changes in body weight and feed intake during lay that makes the determination of precise nutrient recommendations more difficult than for other laying poultry. Understanding these changes is importantin order to try and formulate a feed programme that promotes maximum egg production at all times. All producers monitor the egg production curve but not everyone follows the body weight and more importantly, feed intake changes during lay. Attention to both of these parameters can provide clues to explain why an egg production problem has arisen.
